Updates, New Features and Thanks

Posted by GI Monitor

Just a quick note to all GI Monitor users to let you know that I have recovered from an illness (unrelated to my UC) that kept me on the sidelines for about a month. Thanks to all for the kind wishes during this time. While I was sidelined, our development team continued to hammer away at some very impressive updates for GI Monitor (mobile and web). These features will be announced soon and the new iPhone update will be available (pending Apple’s approval process). I will update everyone very soon with a detailed explanation of the upgrades. We are very excited about these new features and thank everyone for the feedback and continued support of GI Monitor. All patient and physician feedback gets considered and helps shape our development roadmap, so please keep the comments coming.

Thanks,
Brett

Dear Brett:

It's good to know that you are feeling better. I write this short note to thank you for developing this app for those of us who suffer from some kind of bowel disease. Your app has had a positive impact on my way of life; now I can keep better track of my condition, (Crohn's disease), and am able to provide my doctors with a more precise account of flare-ups, diet, pain and others. Your app is a valuable tool, and it is an essential part of my day; so, thank you very much for such great work to you and your team of developers. I must also thank you for providing this amazing app free of charge. I wish you and yours best of health, and continued success in all your endeavors. God bless you.

Sincerely,

-Louis R.

Louis made my day

Hi Louis,

Comments like this from our users make me smile. I built this app./service out of a personal need (for the same reasons that it now helps you) and I plan to continue improving it forever. Your feedback is not only appreciated for the smile it puts on my face, but for the motivation it provides our team to make sure our apps./services are best in class.

Please let us know about any suggestions you may have to improve our service. Note that we will be releasing improved printed reports next week, which were developed with feedback from doctors on our GI Monitor committee.

Best,
Brett

This WSJ video presents a pretty good overview of what some patients are doing to take control of their health. In this rapidly evolving era of consumer health, its super important that neither the patient nor the doctor sees the "Health Hacker" model as trumping the guidance of an educated health care provider. The right model is a partnership between data collection and data analysis.

by Brett Shamosh Entrepreneurship is hard. All those blog posts you read about the ups and downs are absolutely true. But so are the parts about affecting change and disrupting conventional workflows. And that’s what makes me smile every morning when I look at my Socialize feed in GI Monitor and see things like “My GI recommended it” and “my nurse suggested this app”.
