Log your Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis symptoms online and from your mobile device with GI Monitor 2.0, for FREE!

What is WellApps?
Let’s say your personal physician was with you 24 hours a day for a month to witness the symptoms of your chronic illness. OK – scary image. Point is… he/she would probably be able to get you feeling better a whole lot more quickly.

WellApps attempts to create this effect using mobile and online symptom tracking applications. Patients can log their symptoms using our simple apps (WellApps) and participating physicians can see their patients’ data in real-time.

Furthermore, this data can be collected anonymously and shared with researchers to make progress in the treatment of chronic illnesses.

These are our goals at WellApps. And we are proud to introduce our first service for Inflammatory Bowel Disease – Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. GI Monitor 2.0.

GI Monitor 2.0 Release Notes:

You must have iPhone's 3.0 OS installed for this application to work correctly. If you have 2.0, please upgrade. Click here to learn how to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0

* Data Sync: GI Monitor 2.0 is more than just a mobile application...its a service. GI Monitor now allows patients to access their symptom data via a secure login on www.wellapps.com, anytime and anywhere. In addition, patients will be able to log symptoms from the web and opt-in to share their data in real-time with participating physicians. All data will be shared anonymously to help IBD research. Best of all, this service is currently free to patients!
* Meal Tracker: Due to many requests, patients can now log meals. Each meal must be given a Digestion Rating (Easy, Moderate, Difficult) so doctors can map this back to other symptoms. In addition, patients can add details about their meals (example: cheeseburger and fries) which will be recorded and saved.
* Notes: Patients can add notes to any individual log by using the “notepad” in the upper right hand corner of any log screen. We understand that patient symptoms can be very different, so users can keep track by simply adding notes. All notes will be recorded and saved.
* Log Urgency: Patients can now log “urgency” of bowel movements. This is also factored into “My Status”, GI Monitor’s proprietary 1-10 scaled quality of life index.
* Log Missed Medication: Patients can now log missed medications and select the reason for missing meds. This will allow patients, doctors and researchers to map symptoms back to missed medications and improve patient care.
* Delete individual logs: Made a mistake? No problem! Any individual log can now be deleted by simply dragging your finger left to right across the log entry.
* Medications: Many improvements were made to the Medications section for better entry, editing and historical tracking of meds and dosages. Patients can also add their own medications to the meds list by simply using the “+” in the upper right corner of the Medications page. This feature was available in the first release, but many users didn’t know it!
* User Profile: GI Monitor 2.0 offers an enhanced user profile page, under settings. This allows patients to enter data like weight, date of diagnosis, genetic predisposition, etc. All of this data is relevant to physicians during treatment as well as IBD researchers. We strongly encourage users to enter this data. The use of this data is explained in our privacy policy.
* Password Protection: Do you share your iPhone? If you want to lock GI Monitor, just enter a password!

Let us know what you think

Danielle, from We Are Crohn's - I just got it! This is AWESOME. I have been keeping my CDAI in an excel spreadsheet. No more excel for me!

Kello82 from crohnsforum.com - i love that gi monitor.
very cool, it would come in so handy when you are filling out the mandatory paperwork at the start of every dr appt...symptoms worse, better, pain scale, med changes, etc. I can never remember that stuff

Kyle, from We Are Crohn's - This app is a life saver. I have a crazy life and my can never find time to write down this stuff for my next gi appointment.

Thanks for this app!

This app has been wonderful! I can already see a pattern forming. I would like to see two features added: the ability to chart the size of the bowel movement ( for example small, medium, large and extra large) and the ability to log excessive gas. Thank you so much for this app!

Thanks for the feedback and

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you find GI Monitor useful. In our next release, you will be able to create and log a "Custom Symptom" (as many as you'd like). Also remember that you can add notes to anything you log...in case you want to add detail like stool size. On the iPhone, notes are accessed via the notepad icon in the upper right of any logging screen.

What I would like to see

Hi.

This app earn a five-star rating from me if it was possible to view your data as graphs, choose which symptoms you would like to plot and add notes (food etc) as dots in the diagram. I would also like to be able to logg fever and custom symptoms. I think it would be better with a 1-5 scale instead of the current one.

Love the Feedback

I really appreciate the feedback from all of our users. Most of what you have requested is in our development roadmap, including: Charts/graphs to view symptoms and correlations, custom symptom logging and a sliding scale to rank symptoms (this last one is slated further down the road). Please keep the feedback coming as it will continue to shape our development queue. If this application isn't working well for us as patients, it will be of no use to the IBD community. Thanks to your continued feedback, GI Monitor will improve patient care, enable patients to play a more active role in managing our their conditions and also provide very valuable data for new areas of research. - Brett

Things I would like to see in an update

Add fever as one of the things you can keep a log over

Customizing symptoms; more choices as well?

I'm glad to hear that the ability to add custom symptoms is coming to the next upgrade. I'm wondering if instead of the three choices for each symptom, as it is now, we might get a sliding scale of perhaps 1 to 5? The definitions of the three choices rarely match what I've actually got going on, so a 1 to 5 ranking would allow me to establish my own parameters for what each number means.

In general, though, this is a wonderful program, very helpful and useful. A great idea. Thanks for putting it out there.

3 level rankings

Thanks for the feedback, RoCan. We are considering sliding rankings for future releases. But for this next release, custom symptoms will include 3 levels (low, medium and high). Selecting a level will not be required when logging a custom symptom. So if low, medium and high is not applicable, you can just log that the symptom occurred.

Love the application for the

Love the application for the iphone, i think it is wonderful. I was just wondering in the next version, if there is any plan to make more efficient the meal logging. I think that would be fantasic, maybe even nutritional info later on.

The feature i would love to see though, is often a lot of people have other symptoms that really effect them and are important for the doctor to keep track of and know about. I remember seeing an app that let you enter a condition, and symptoms, and you could rate each symptom. It would be great if your app did a similar thing with symptoms, so you had a button for log symptom. And you could in the settings enter all symptoms that effect you, and have a low / medium / high rating for each symptom. So whilst it would not effect your number score. It would go into the report.

So for example with my UC, i could enter symptoms "Bloating, Nausea, Vommiting, XYZ" and if i go into log symptoms, i can click on which symptom i want to log, and the Normal / low / med / high rating would come up as well as the time / date. That way other symptoms could be kept track of as well. Id love to see that feature added, so they could get put into the reports as well :).

Also with Meals, having the time meal was logged as part of the report would be great, so maybe you could see what meal was taken when, and compare it to stool consistancy / blood etc to see what foods your body doesent really like.

Id love to see that happen as soon as possible!.

Well done on the fantastic app. Its a lifesaver, just started using it and hope to continue using it every day to log and keep track.

Custom Symptoms

Hi Travis - thanks for the feedback. The next release of the app. does include custom symptom logging...almost exactly as you have suggested. Meal logging improvements are on the dev roadmap as well, but not for the next release. Stay tuned...and keep the feedback coming!

improvements

Hi
I found GI Monitor a bit simplistic. I know simple makes it easier to monitor but the things I want to monitor that give me the heads up that I'm starting to have problems weren't covered. I use Bento to monitor a range of potential symptoms from bloating, fatigue and nausea through to blood test results. I try to keep a track of the little things so that I can see if there is a problem building up rather than wait until it is severe enough to be obvious. This also helps me to better identify if certain foods may be a problem. Having more symptom tracking options but with the ability to turn off the ones you don't want to use would make GI Monitor a more attractive option to me.
